Complete Farming Guide

Seeds, Crops, Watering, Harvesting & Storage

Disney Dreamlight Valley Β· Main Game

Learn how to unlock seeds, prepare farming plots, grow crops, use gardening companions, organise storage and build an efficient farming routine for your Valley.

πŸ“–

How Farming Works

Farming begins with purchasing or finding seeds, preparing a plot with the Royal Shovel, planting the seed and watering it with the Royal Watering Can. Once the crop has fully grown, it can be harvested for cooking, quests, gifting, storage or sale.

🌱 Buy Seeds

Seeds are mainly purchased from Goofy’s Stalls throughout the Valley.

⛏️ Dig a Plot

Use the Royal Shovel to prepare a farming space.

πŸ’§ Water Crops

Water newly planted crops and return when they need more.

⏱️ Wait for Growth

Every crop has its own growth time and watering needs.

🧺 Harvest Produce

Collect the mature crop and any companion bonuses.

πŸ“¦ Store or Sell

Protect cooking and quest reserves before selling surplus.

🌱

Start Your First Farm

1
Choose a Farming Area

Select a flat, open space with enough room for planting, watering and harvesting.

2
Purchase Seeds

Visit the Goofy’s Stall that sells the seed you need.

3
Dig the Farming Plots

Use the Royal Shovel to create one hole for every seed.

4
Plant and Water

Plant each seed and water the plot until the soil appears dark and wet.

5
Return When Needed

Some crops need watering more than once before they finish growing.

6
Harvest with a Companion

Bring a gardening companion to receive possible bonus crops.

πŸ›’

Goofy’s Stalls

Each Valley biome has its own Goofy’s Stall. Repairing and upgrading the stalls unlocks additional seed varieties.

  • Unlock the biome containing the required stall.
  • Repair the stall using the construction sign.
  • Upgrade the stall to unlock more seeds.
  • Purchase enough seeds for the planned field size.
  • Store extra seeds near your main farming area.
πŸ—ƒοΈ

Keep a Seed Reserve

A small seed reserve prevents repeated trips between biomes whenever you want to plant a new field.

  • Keep frequently used seeds in your farming chest.
  • Separate seeds from harvested crops.
  • Choose a minimum stock target for every seed.
  • Restock after large planting sessions.
  • Label seed chests clearly.
πŸ—ΊοΈ

HOME-BIOME GROWTH BONUS

Plant Crops in Their Associated Biome

Seeds can be planted in any unlocked biome, but crops grow faster when planted in the biome connected to the Goofy’s Stall where their seeds are sold.

πŸ’§

Watering Your Crops

🌱 Water After Planting

Newly planted seeds must be watered before growth begins.

🌧️ Rain Waters Crops

Rain can water planted crops automatically while it is active.

πŸ”„ Check Again Later

Longer-growing crops may dry out and require another watering.

πŸ‘€ Watch the Soil

Dry soil appears lighter, while watered soil appears darker.

⚑ Protect Your Energy

Keep meals available during large planting and watering sessions.

πŸ“‹ Use a Routine

Check fields in the same order so no crops are forgotten.

🀝

Increase Your Harvest

🌱 πŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎ πŸ₯• 🧺 ✨

Bring a Gardening Companion

Ask a villager assigned to the gardening role to hang out before harvesting. They may provide additional produce as you collect each crop.

  • Assign gardening roles to several villagers.
  • Ask one gardening companion to hang out.
  • Harvest the full field while they are nearby.
  • Collect all bonus crops dropped behind you.
  • Use the extra harvest for storage or profit.
🧺

Efficient Harvesting

πŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎ Bring a Companion

Always harvest large fields with a gardening companion.

✨ Golden Harvests

When a crop glows gold, harvest repeatedly before the effect ends.

🟑 Bonus Crop Bursts

Quickly collect timed bonus crops before they disappear.

πŸ“¦ Empty Your Inventory

Make enough inventory space before harvesting a large field.

πŸ›€οΈ Use Clear Rows

Straight rows make harvesting and replanting much faster.

πŸ” Replant Immediately

Replant after harvesting to keep the farming cycle moving.

πŸ“

Design an Efficient Field

Small Everyday Field

  • Use 20 to 50 plots for regular cooking supplies.
  • Keep the field near your house or storage.
  • Grow several useful crops together.
  • Replant only when storage becomes low.

Large Profit Field

  • Use 100 or more plots for dedicated profit farming.
  • Grow one high-value crop at a time.
  • Keep seeds and meals close to the field.
  • Harvest with a gardening companion.
πŸ“¦

Build a Reliable Crop Reserve

10 Starter Reserve

Suitable for occasional meals and small quests.

25 Everyday Reserve

A useful quantity for regular cooking and gifting.

50 Comfortable Reserve

Provides a stronger buffer for recipes and quests.

99 Full Stack Goal

Ideal for dedicated collectors and organised storage rooms.

πŸ’‘

Keep cooking crops separate from profit crops. This prevents you from accidentally selling ingredients needed for meals, quests or favourite gifts.

πŸͺ™

Plan Crops for Profit

🌱 Seed Cost

Calculate how much the full field costs to plant.

🧺 Harvest Yield

Check how many crops each planted seed produces.

πŸͺ™ Sale Value

Compare the sale value of each harvested crop.

⏱️ Growth Time

Consider how long the crop takes before profit is available.

🀝 Companion Bonuses

Extra crops from companions can increase total profits.

🍽️ Cooking Value

Some crops may earn more when used in cooked meals.

πŸŒ…

Suggested Daily Routine

1
Check Existing Fields

Look for crops that need watering or are ready to harvest.

2
Harvest Mature Crops

Bring a gardening companion and collect all bonus produce.

3
Restock Storage

Move the required crops into cooking and quest reserves.

4
Sell Surplus Produce

Sell only the crops above your chosen storage targets.

5
Replant the Field

Choose the next crop based on profit, cooking or quest needs.

⚠️

Things to Avoid

πŸ“¦ Selling Everything

Keep a reserve before selling the full harvest.

🀝 Harvesting Alone

Missing a gardening companion can reduce bonus harvests.

πŸ’§ Forgetting Watering

Dry crops pause their progress until watered again.

πŸŽ’ Full Inventory

Clear inventory space before harvesting large fields.

🌱 Running Out of Seeds

Keep a reserve for replanting after each harvest.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Ignoring the Home Biome

Plant in the crop’s associated biome when faster growth matters.
