GARDENING ROLE
What does a Farming Companion do?
A villager assigned the Gardening role can produce additional crops while hanging out with you. The bonus applies when harvesting planted crops, making Gardening companions particularly useful for large money-making fields.
Best used while
Harvesting crops
Ask them to hang out
Speak to a villager with the Gardening role and select the option to spend time together.
Harvest your crops
Keep the villager with you while harvesting. Bonus crops will be dropped nearby and can be collected from the ground.
Level your companions
Higher friendship levels and additional Gardening villagers increase the chance of receiving bonus crops.

The active companion contributes more to the calculation, while every other villager assigned to Gardening adds a smaller friendship-level contribution.

CHANGE A VILLAGER’S ROLE
Gardening Training Manual
A Level 10 villager can be reassigned to Gardening by gifting them a Gardening Training Manual crafted at a Crafting Station.
The manual changes the villager’s existing role. Make sure you are happy to replace their current assignment first.

FARMING COMPANION TIPS
Get more from every harvest
A Level 10 active companion provides a larger contribution than a lower-level active companion.
Other villagers assigned to Gardening contribute even when they are not the villager currently hanging out with you.
Save your companion for large Pumpkin, Okra or other money-making harvests to maximise the value of bonus crops.
Bonus crops are dropped around the companion, so keep nearby paths and field edges reasonably clear.
Companion bonuses can also trigger from crops collected during a golden harvest opportunity.
Gardening villagers receive additional friendship from planting, watering and harvesting while hanging out.
